Why I can't live without Evernote

Evernote is well established as the go-to app for organising just about everything in your life. Whether it's notes for a novel or bookmarks from the Web, Evernote can take pretty much anything you want to throw at it. It's always something I recommend to clients as it's very easy to use and the more you use it, the better it gets. Here I'll explain just why I love it so much.

1) Evernote Web Clipper

This is a simple extension that you can add to your browser that enables you to 'clip' content from any website and save it directly into one of your Evernote notebooks. You can then annotate it and share it with friends or colleagues.

2) Evernote Work Chat

Working remotely means that I often have to collaborate on projects with people in a variety different locations and time zones. Evernote makes this really easy with it's 'Work Chat' feature, which allows me to send, share and comment on work updates anytime, anywhere.

3) Evernote Scannable

I hate using scanners. They never work and when they do, they take ages to scan. Within the Evernote app you will find a specific camera setting that lets you to scan a document just by taking a picture of it. Then you can simply save or send it. It also scans and reads business cards so you can add them to your contacts instantly. This is perfect for expenses. No more crumpled  bills. Just take a picture of your receipt at the time, save to a notebook within Evernote and then email to your accountant. Done.

4) Evernote Speech to Text

This is probably one of the biggest time saving activities I use on a daily basis. Being able to speak into my phone, have Evernote write it down for me through audio dictation and then save it to access on my laptop later on is quite simply amazing. Even if what I initially say isn't quite right, it's far quicker to edit something compared to typing it out. Watch the demo below to see what I mean.

5) Email into Evernote

There are so many features I love, but for conveniece I've kept to 5, so my last one is being able to forward emails directly into Evernote. This works really well for me with information heavy emails such as travel documents as it means I can have access to them at a later date without needing my laptop. You can also send it to specific notebooks, add tags and reminders all from your email client. Genuis.

I hope that you found this article useful, as I have mantioned previously I am always looking to give value so if there is anythin you are struggling with, please let me know and I'll address it in a future blog post.
