My biggest struggle is Marketing. I would love to learn to some basic marketing strategies so that I sound somewhat knowledgeable when a client ask me how to launch a campaign
If you don’t already follow him, Gary Vaynerchuk is your man. His book ‘Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook’ is brilliant (http://amzn.to/1SMlKHZ) and his weekly show on YT (which is also a podcast) is excellent. It’s called ‘AskGaryVee’ and you’ll pick up a huge amount about marketing and social media on there simply by osmosis.
Start at the beginning and listen away whilst working, jogging or driving. It’s very, very good.
The other place I always recommend is Sean Wes. His podcast is fantastic (http://seanwes.com/podcast/) and the archive is great place to start for material on marketing: http://seanwes.com/podcast-archive/
This is my take on marketing. It has to be genuine, sincere and valuable to the client’s customers.
By valuable I mean ‘of value’. So this is usually entertaining, informative or funny, but is always dictated by the customer, not the client.
The client has to engage with their audience on a relevant platform (Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc) about things that matter to them. If what they give away is valuable, it will be shared by their audience, which will help spread awareness of their business.
The key is to listen. It’s a conversation, not a monologue.
Get the client to ask their customers what they want (content) and then give it to them in a way that they appreciate at a time that it is at it’s most helpful (context).
